CrossFit Montgomery welcomes new trainer Nate Naidas from CrossFit Impavidus in Virginia! Nate ran track and cross country in high school and continued running for recreation in college. In 2003, he registered for his first marathon. Beforehand he had only competed in road races up to five miles. Since then, he has completed 4 marathons, 1 sprint triathlon, and 1 super sprint triathlon. Since beginning CrossFit in November 2008, he enjoys competing in races like Metro Dash and mud runs that test his “CrossFit fitness ability.”
In 2009, he decided to try the CrossFit and CrossFit Endurance approach to training to see how well it could prepare him for a marathon. Needless to say, it worked – Nate ran significantly less mileage than before when using a long slow distance training methodology AND he PR’d (obtained a personal record) by 24 minutes.
Ask Nate about CrossFit and he’d say, “CrossFit has proven, at least to me, its functional application to all sports and life. Additionally, the community is by far the best aspect of CrossFit. It’s the community that pushes you to your max and wants you to get that PR–sometimes even more than you do.”
Nate holds CrossFit Level 1 and CrossFit Endurance certifications. He is also a member of the United States Parachute Association which proves that he is not only crazy enough to do CrossFit, but that he is also crazy enough to jump out of airplanes!
Nate has served 11 years in the Air Force and is attending Air Command Staff College on Maxwell Air Force Base this year. We are excited about having him join our team of coaches and the CrossFit Montgomery family.
