CFMGM Welcomes New Trainer Mike

CrossFit Montgomery welcomes new trainer Mike Geranis (pictured above on the far right) from CrossFit Benedictus! Mike has a long background in athletics and competition including wrestling, intramural sports, and approximately 10 years experience in racing mountain bikes, road bikes, marathons and ½ marathons, triathlons including Ironman distance, Xterra races, and adventure races. He is a two time Ironman and been invited twice to represent the U.S. Air Force at the Armed Forces World Triathlon Championships.

After years of sport-specific training at endurance events he was introduced to CrossFit in 2009 and immediately recognized the benefits of functional training. Highly competitive and un-accepting of anything other than 100% effort, Mike knows the importance of intensity. The broad and inclusive programming has changed his life and the way he trains. Through his extensive racing and competition experience he is a wealth of knowledge realizing that everyone is an athlete and is much faster and stronger than they think they are. He is a fully committed to providing the best possible training for his clients to meet and exceed their goals.

Mike holds a CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Endurance, CrossFit Gymnastics, USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports and Performance Certification, and recently judged the 2011 CrossFit Games South Central Regionals.

Mike will soon begin school at Air Command Staff College on Maxwell Air Force Base. We are excited about having him join our team of coaches and the CrossFit Montgomery family.

Rest Day Workouts

2011-07-17 Rest Day

Sundays are rest days at CrossFit Montgomery. 23:1 … The ratio 23:1 represents 23 hours of free time (time spent not working out at The Boneyard) to your one hour workout (including warm-up, WOD, and stretching). That’s 23 hours that includes hydrating, eating (nutrition), sleeping (recovery), working, playing, etc.

Recovery is just as important as training. Your body needs time to replenish energy stores and repair damaged tissues. Recovery includes, but is not limited to: rest, sleep, hydration, good nutrition, stretching, self-massaging (using a foam roller), massage by a professional, and chiropractic care.

Our Announcements page is updated on Sunday. We also provide updates via email and on Facebook and Twitter throughout the week. If you want to receive these announcements and other updates, please email us at 41Fitness@gmail.com.
